CEO urges citizens to verify names before August 4 deadline

The Chief Electoral Officer made an important announcement regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
The draft electoral roll has been published by now.
Authorities have distributed the rolls to all recognised political parties.
Earlier, there were 33.3 million registered voters in the state.
But the authorities have deleted 2.014 million names.
Thus, there are 31.3 million voters in the draft roll.
Among the deleted names, 832,000 are the names of deceased voters.
There were 1.007 million voters who were absent or had moved forever.
Moreover, there were 358,000 voters having multiple voter cards.
Authorities have accepted claims and objections for one month.
Eligible voters can file objections till August 4.
In addition, there are 31 election districts in the state now.
Bhubaneswar is a new election district.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner will be the Election Officer.
SIR ensures that all eligible voters are registered in the electoral list.
In addition to this, it ensures that the ineligible voters are de-registered from the electoral list.
Chief Electoral Officer has requested the citizens to check their names.
Names of the voters can be checked in the following manner:
Names of the voters can be checked via online mode.
Names of the voters can be checked with the help of the Booth Level Officer (BLO).
Names of the absentees need to fill up Form 6 at the office of the BLO.
All new voters will have to fill Form 6.
Citizens aged 18 years and above on July 1, 2026, will become eligible to file Form 6.
