Karnataka has raised concerns regarding ethanol blended petrol.

The state government claims that some samples had more than 31 per cent ethanol.

Ethanol levels were found to be as high as 31.2 per cent.

Officials collected a total of 63 samples from various fuel stations.

The samples were taken from five major oil companies.

Indian Oil, HPCL, BPCL, Nayara and Shell

Seven districts had levels exceeding 20 per cent, according to the government.

Some of the IOCL samples showed high levels of ethanol at 31.2 per cent.

HPCL samples had an ethanol level of up to 30.5 per cent.

BPCL had samples with an ethanol level of up to 26.5 per cent.

Nayara had samples showing ethanol levels of up to 26.1 per cent.

Shell had samples with ethanol levels up to 25.5 per cent.

This adds to the controversy surrounding E20 petrol.

Karnataka has expressed concerns about a drop in mileage.

The government suggests that a 10 per cent drop in mileage could lead to large financial losses.

The state also expects increased servicing and maintenance costs.

Minister Rizwan Arshad has requested action from the Centre.

A compensation fund will be set up in order to help those affected.

The state wants to get compensation for losses incurred due to over blending.

However the centre and oil companies have not responded to this.
