And he pointed out how Mother Teresa’s contributions to humanity continue to make a difference.

Rubio is the first US Secretary of State to visit Kolkata since 2012.

Hillary Clinton, who was Secretary of State before, was the last one to visit the city back in May 2012.

Rubio plans to stay in India from May 23rd to May 26th.

His trip also includes stops in Agra, Jaipur, and New Delhi.

Once he finished up in Kolkata, he headed to New Delhi.

In New Delhi, he’s set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other high-ranking Indian ministers.

He’ll also be part of some important diplomatic talks.

The Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting is scheduled for May 26th.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong will be there.

And Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi will also join in.

India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will be leading the discussion.

Because of all this, experts see the meeting as pretty important for working together in the Indo-Pacific and keeping the region safe.
