Shubhendu Adhikari backs Hasirani Rath after her son’s killing
Nandigram by-election
For the Nandigram by-election, the BJP has fielded Hasirani Rath as the candidate.
Hasirani is the mother of Chandranath Rath, who was the aide of Shubhendu Adhikari.
Chandranath passed away due to gunshots from unknown assailants in May.
The BJP officially made the announcement regarding its choice for the Nandigram by-election as Hasirani Rath.
She will file the nomination papers tomorrow.
The Chief Minister will also attend the process.
Election Commission had announced that the Nandigram by-elections would be held on October 6.
After the announcement of the dates, Hasirani became the prominent candidate.
Nandigram is one of the most significant constituencies in West Bengal.
Shubhendu Adhikari used to represent this constituency in the assembly.
He left the constituency as he had become the chief minister.
Shubhendu Adhikari had won the Bhabanipur constituency from Mamata Banerjee.
Meanwhile, the TMC has named Sanchita Pradhan Dey.
The rebel TMC group has fielded Mohammad Eteshamul Haque.
Congress has nominated Milan Pradhan for the contest.
The CPI has fielded Shanti Gopal Giri from Nandigram.
Therefore, the by-election could witness a multi-cornered political contest.
The BJP’s candidate choice has added further political interest.
However, voters will decide the final outcome on election day.
