7-Year-Old Ishank prepares to create history with “Mission Samandar”

Young swimmer from Ranchi aims to cross India–Sri Lanka sea route and enter Guinness World Records

A seven-year-old boy, Ishank from Ranchi, Jharkhand, is set to create history as he prepares to complete “Mission Samandar.” Currently, he is focusing on a challenging mission to cross the sea route between India and Sri Lanka. Not only does he aim to conquer this difficult journey, but he also aspires to register his name in the Guinness Book of World Records. At such a young age, his strong determination amazes everyone. Therefore, he practices rigorously, spending long hours in the water.

Ishank will begin his adventurous journey from Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, on April 29. Before that, he will leave for Rameswaram on April 22. Meanwhile, on April 30, his family members and swimming team will travel by sea towards Talaimannar in Sri Lanka. After reaching Talaimannar, they will stay overnight on a boat.

Subsequently, on April 30, Ishank will launch his mission from Talaimannar. He will swim nearly 30 kilometers to reach Dhanushkodi, the last coastal point of India. According to his mother, Manisha, swimming has always been his first passion, and he has been practicing since the age of two and a half. Moreover, his father, Sunil, acts as his biggest guide and supporter. He expresses great happiness over his son’s achievements and hopes that Ishank will break a world record.

To achieve his mission, Ishank trains daily for four to five hours at Dhurwa Dam in Ranchi. In addition, he swims 15 to 20 kilometers regularly. His mother further explains that he practices for up to eight hours once a week. During these sessions, his entire swimming team accompanies him. His coach, Aman Kumar Jaiswal, personally trains him, while Bajrang Kumar also supports his preparation.

Furthermore, on April 11, Ishank will travel to Kochi to participate in an open water swimming competition in the Periyar River. Notably, this competition has no age limit, which allows participants of all ages to compete. Ishank has already demonstrated his talent in several national-level competitions. For instance, on February 22, he secured third place in the Gateway of India event by swimming one kilometer in the Arabian Sea. In addition, he has delivered strong performances in district-level competitions. Alongside his sporting achievements, he also continues to perform well in his studies.
