Mohan Yadav says equal rights for all citizens

Madhya Pradesh Cabinet passed the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill.
This was informed by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. He stated that this law would give equal rights to all citizens.
Yadav opines that Ram, Rahim, Ravinder, and Robin would have equal rights according to the law.
The government will introduce this bill in the Assembly on July 20.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav informed that 958,000 recommendations were received regarding the law.
As per the claims of the chief minister, 93.54 percent people support the legislation.
Further, he said that 80 percent Muslim women supported the idea.
He added that 40 percent Muslim men have supported a common civil law.
Moreover, the chief minister has claimed that all major political parties participated in the discussions about the UCC.
But he further claimed that Congress party didn’t attend these discussions.
In addition to this, the government also took suggestions from the public using print media, electronic media, and social media.
According to the UCC, there will be only one legal marriage.
As a result, the law would prevent a person from marrying another spouse.
Divorce proceedings would be recognized legally in accordance with common terms and conditions.
Also, the law would provide guidance on issues of inheritance.
Men and women will have equal legal rights.
The bill provides for the mandatory registration of cohabitation within one month.
Only men over 21 years and women over 18 years can indulge in such practice.
At the same time, the government has excluded tribes from this law.
Marriage registration would become mandatory at the village level.
Also, the bill provides for penalties for violation of certain clauses.
The Chief Minister requested the opposition party to support the bill.
According to him, the main aim of this bill is to promote trust among each other and legal equality.
