Recommendation for temporary change in school uniforms from West Bengal government.
Recommendation is made in an effort to protect kids during dengue season.
Recommendation was made by State Health Minister Dr. Shardwat Mukherjee.
His recommendation was made in a high-level conference held at Swasthya Bhavan.
The minister suggested schools to permit long-sleeves shirts.
Moreover, the minister has also advised schools to provide long pants to students.
This recommendation will continue till September, October, and November.
During these months there arises problem of dengue.
Girls can be allowed to wear salwar suits instead of skirts.
These clothes would provide protection to their legs.
However, the minister refused knee-length socks as adequate precaution.
According to the minister mosquitoes could bite through these clothes.
Therefore, the minister insisted on clothing that would cover exposed body parts.
Government may give guidelines to state run schools.
Similarly, private schools may also be recommended about this precaution.
But finally, it would be up to school management to decide.
While, people were requested to be alert.
If any person notices dengue symptoms, then he/she must visit doctor.
