Eligible Part B beneficiaries will receive one-time October premium relief
Trump Medicare payment
President Donald Trump has declared a onetime payment of $90 for Medicare.
The payment is meant for eligible Medicare Part B recipients.
Approximately 20 million seniors will receive the payment.
The money will be from the Medicare Improvement Fund.
Eligible Medicare beneficiaries will receive the payment via direct deposit.
According to CMS, the payments will start on October 8.
But other eligible Medicare recipients will receive paper checks in late October.
However, not all Medicare beneficiaries are eligible to receive the payment.
Eligible Medicare beneficiaries should be living in the United States.
Eligible Medicare beneficiaries should also have Original Medicare Part B plan.
Medicaid premium assistance recipients are not eligible for the payment.
Also, those paying income-related Part B premiums are ineligible.
Medicare Advantage plans beneficiaries will not get the payment.
Thus, all senior citizens will not get the payment.
This $90 payment helps reduce the October Part B premiums.
But it will not pay the entire premium.
The average premium for Part B of Medicare for 2026 is $202.90.
This shows that the payment only pays for less than half of the premium.
Trump announced the payment on Truth Social.
According to the White House, the goal is to lower medical bills.
It was announced before the November 3rd midterms.
Also, Trump had made a proposal for an additional payment of $5,000.
The latter was aimed at American adults and would need to be approved by Congress.
It shows that this Medicare payment is quite a significant financial announcement.
