Rebellion Grows in Strength With MPs Ready to Form Separate Group

The political drama at the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal has gained momentum owing to a major loss in the polls.
Disagreements in the TMC have now become a full-fledged rebellion.
As many as 19 MPs are planning to create a separate parliamentary group.

The group is believed to be headed by senior MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.
The MPs have expressed their frustration with the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.
A written notice has been given to the office of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
Their aim is to seek formal recognition for their separate group.

It should be noted that the rebellious MPs are not planning to join the BJP.
Rather, they will help the NDA Government from outside.

Some names who appear on the list include Shatrughan Sinha, Yusuf Pathan, and Rachana Banerjee.
There are other members from different West Bengal constituencies in the list too.

List of 19 MPs reportedly comprises members representing important seats in Bengal.
The group reportedly consists of MPs from Asansol, Barrackpore, Jadavpur, and Kolkata South.
It clearly marks a growing internal rift within the political organization’s ranks.

MP Mahua Moitra made a strong statement on reports.
She reportedly described the defectors as “traitors” of the party.
She reportedly made legal and constitutional provisions concerning formation of a group in Parliament.
She noted that separation of two-thirds cannot necessarily mean creation of a valid new group.

Political analysts describe the problem as the most severe internal threat in 28 years.
It is described as a difficult test for Mamata Banerjee’s political stability.
