Odisha Railway Development Gets Major Boost with ₹93,000 Crore Investment

Rayagada Division to Become Operational Soon as Government Assures No Loss to ECoR and Protects State Interests

“Railway infrastructure in Odisha is set for major development.”

The double-engine government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) firmly drives railway development in Odisha. In this direction, it actively builds a modern and world-class railway infrastructure across the state.

To begin with, Budget for Railway Development:
The government has allocated more than ₹93,000 crore for railway development in Odisha. Moreover, it has increased the annual budget allocation to over ₹10,000 crore during the last three years. In comparison to the 2009–14 period, it has raised the allocation nearly 13 times higher. Therefore, this step clearly shows the government’s strong commitment to improving railway infrastructure.

Next, Rayagada Division to Become Operational:
The government will soon make the Rayagada railway division operational. Meanwhile, it has included the KK Line (Kottavalasa–Koraput–Kirandul), which generates significant revenue and connects parts of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh, under this division. As a result, this move will not cause any revenue loss to the East Coast Railway (ECoR).

Furthermore, Protection of State Interests:
The government has ensured that no part of Odisha’s railway track will go to any other state. In addition, it has noted that the Palasa–Ichchapuram section does not contain any major freight handling stations. Hence, this will not affect the revenue of the East Coast Railway (ECoR).

Finally, Overall Focus:
In conclusion, the government continues to protect Odisha’s interests while giving top priority to expanding and strengthening railway connectivity across the entire state.
