It has arisen due to the activities being performed in Census 2027. The conduct of a census process requires many teachers and government employees. There is apprehension that there would be manpower shortage if both the processes are held simultaneously.
Notifications from the government make it clear that the process of Census 2027 would be done using digital technology. The date of enumerating the population would take place in February/March 2027.

BJP is in the midst of doing constituency level assessments in some states. This has been seen in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab.

The level of political activity in Uttar Pradesh has surged dramatically. All political parties have been actively preparing despite the lack of an official election announcement.
Punjab And Goa Get Involved As Well
Punjab has become one of the main focus points. Sources say that elections in the state might be scheduled in November 2026 instead of February 2027 due to concerns about conflicts with the census campaign and other national events.
In Goa, too, some parties have been discussing the possibility of organizing early elections. In this case, census planning will remain the main factor.
Manipur Still Anomaly
The election schedule in Manipur is yet unclear. Current security and ethnic tensions can influence the timing.
Decision Will Depend On Election Commission
Despite ongoing political consultations in all concerned states, the Election Commission of India has yet to reveal a new schedule for holding early elections.
