Cross-Border-Terrorism
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar made the national statement of India at the 81st UN General Assembly.
This was followed by a statement made by him after Pakistan’s statement at the UN.
Speaking without mentioning Pakistan by name, he criticized the “serial practitioner of terrorism.”
He said efforts towards normalizing terrorism would not bear fruit.
He also rejected any efforts for immunity from the repercussions of terrorism.
Jaishankar said India would reserve its right to self-defense.
According to him, those backing the terrorists have to face accountability.
He also spoke against any weakening of the worldwide zero tolerance policy.
In Jaishankar’s view, terrorism and friendship are not compatible.
He said good relations can exist only if there is an end to terrorism.
The speech also emphasized on cooperation among nations.
Jaishankar called for reforms in international organizations dealing with contemporary issues.
