Bodies Recovered After 48-Hour Search Near Hathni kund Barrage

Two Indian Army Para Special Forces personnel were found dead in the Yamuna river.
The two soldiers had gone missing when the boat carrying them capsized while they were undergoing training in Hathnikund Barrage in Yamunanagar district, Haryana.
A joint rescue operation was carried out by the Indian Army, Air Force, NDRF, and local agencies. Both bodies were found dead after 48 hours of operations.
Five Soldiers Were In The Motorboat
The event happened on Tuesday night during a night water training practice session. There were five soldiers in the Army’s motorboat that encountered some technical problems.
The boat was navigating close to the gates of the barrage, where there was a very high current of water. Due to this, the boat lost its control and overturned due to the current.
Three of the soldiers succeeded in fighting against the current and made it to the shore safely. But the other two soldiers got swept away.
There was a massive rescue mission conducted immediately after the accident. It lasted for almost 48 hours in spite of tough river conditions.
Eventually, the bodies of both the soldiers were found in the Yamuna River.
This accident emphasizes the dangers that soldiers are exposed to during specialized water training sessions.
