TMC calls FIR politically motivated after election campaign remarks controversy.
Abhishek Banerjee FIR
On Sunday, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) spoke out against the police complaint filed against its national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee. This complaint was about things he said while campaigning for elections. The party called the whole thing politically motivated and claimed the ruling party was specifically going after leaders in the opposition.
TMC leader Tanmoy Ghosh pointed out that several BJP leaders have also said controversial things in the past, but nothing like this happened to them. He emphasized that politics should be done with respect and fairness, and it’s simply not right to file police reports selectively against just one person.

The police report was filed at the Bidhannagar North Cyber Crime Police Station. It was based on claims about what Banerjee said during political rallies and other campaign events. Rajib Sarkar filed this complaint on May 15, accusing Banerjee of making threatening and angry remarks that could cause violence, create bad feelings, and upset the public peace.
The FIR also stated that these comments were shared on Banerjee’s official Facebook page and other social media sites. Police have filed charges in this case using parts of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Representation of the People Act.
