Pune engineer dies after attack on Cyprus-flagged vessel near Strait of Hormuz

Indian marine engineer Heramb Karmakar met his tragic death in waters off the coast of Oman.
The incident took place amidst the Iran-US tension.
Heramb was on board a ship of Cypriot registry which got attacked by the attackers.
It is said that the ship was blown up in this incident.
Consequently, Heramb too lost his life in this tragedy.
Previously, there were apprehensions from him while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
However, he assured his family members that they have successfully crossed the Gulf.
His family acknowledged this communication.
Heramb, who was 30 years old, was from Pune of Maharashtra.
He was a marine engineer.
In the wake of the attack on this ship, Heramb disappeared along with other Indian citizens.
It happened along the coast of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz.
At first, there was news of the disappearance of 11 Indians.
Then, 10 Indians were rescued by rescue teams.
But there was no trace of Heramb.
After that, it was confirmed that he died.
The father requested the government to retrieve the dead body of his son.
He stated that retrieving the dead body would be their sole wish.
Heramb had given peace of mind to his family via a message.
Just after the message, contact was lost with the boat.
Reports of the explosion on the ship were heard soon afterwards.
It came into the knowledge of the family that Heramb disappeared.
