Derek O’Brien challenges Narendra Modi over Mamata Banerjee’s potential victory
Bengal Voting Political Challenge
As the final phase of voting unfolds in West Bengal, political rhetoric has intensified sharply. In this context, Derek O’Brien openly challenged Narendra Modi, asking whether he would resign if Mamata Banerjee and the TMC secure victory on May 4.
Meanwhile, voters are casting ballots for 142 seats, and the contest between BJP and TMC has become increasingly direct. Responding to earlier remarks, Derek O’Brien stated on X that PM Modi had claimed responsibility for all 294 seats. Therefore, he urged the Prime Minister to stop making grand statements and accept the challenge.
Furthermore, O’Brien reinforced his statement by sharing a video, which quickly went viral and added fuel to the already heated election atmosphere.
At the same time, nearly 32.1 million voters are deciding the fate of 1,448 candidates in this crucial phase. Notably, many of these constituencies remain traditional strongholds of the TMC. However, controversy continues over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
On the other hand, the BJP has intensified its campaign efforts. Since March 15, PM Modi has actively addressed 19 rallies across the state. As a result, the party now views this election as a major opportunity to bring political change in West Bengal.
Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee has strongly criticized the role of central forces. She has alleged that they are targeting TMC workers and attempting to influence the electoral process.
