Congress Leaders Criticize Positive Assessment of Jammu and Kashmir

The Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is once again facing criticisms from his own party.

Tharoor recently went to visit Srinagar, located in Jammu and Kashmir.

During his visit, Tharoor met the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Then Tharoor shared his observations about X.

According to him, their discussions were regarding how things were improving in Jammu and Kashmir.

He himself accepted that there were certain challenges left behind.

But he was now more hopeful after visiting Srinagar.

This remark of Tharoor instantly invited criticism from Congress.

The Congress leaders in Jammu and Kashmir challenged his views.

Chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma asked Tharoor to talk to common people.

He stated that they would give better insights of the reality prevailing on the ground.

Nasir Khuehami, youth leader, also criticized Tharoor’s statement.

He has appealed to leaders to listen to the voices of marginalized people.

The issue arises in the backdrop of the ongoing critique by Congress of Kashmir policy of the Centre.

Congress is continuing to protest against the abrogation of Article 370.

It is also protesting against the Union Territory status of Jammu and Kashmir.

On the other hand, BJP welcomed his statements.

Abhijeet Jasrotia, spokesperson of BJP, mentioned some signs of improved security situation.

He said that cases of stone pelting have almost gone.

He also quoted statistics from the government showing reduction in terrorist recruitment.

Shashi Tharoor participated in Nalanda dialogue in Srinagar on 20th June.

He stressed that tourism holds promise for job generation and economic growth.

He also talked about revival of tourism post Pahalgam incident.
