The Congress Working Committee recently relooked at its 1937 directive.
According to this directive, only two stanzas of the Vande Mataram could be sung.
This was applicable for all Congress party functions.
The Centre passed its directive in February.
It called for complete renditions of Vande Mataram at public gatherings.
The Centre also responded to disruptions of songs on nationalism.
The matter has since become a political dispute.
The latest Karnataka order is in accordance with the Congress’ stand.
This instruction will be applicable for programs organized by the state government.
The move has been noticed in the political arena.
