Change in decision of Mamata’s candidate in Rejinagar
Rabiul Alam Chowdhury initially announced his withdrawal.
Then he decided to contest for the October 6 bypoll.
The change in decision followed a discussion with Mamata.
Chowdhury initially claimed problems with the new election symbol.
Besides, he said there was pressure on party workers.
The faction of Mamata got the football player symbol.
This decision was taken by the Election Commission for bypoll.
Afterward, Rabiul decided not to withdraw from the contest.
In addition, he requested police security for his campaign.
This change put an end to the doubt about his candidature.
This happened after an incident that took place in Nandigram.
Earlier, the candidate of Mamata from Nandigram, Sanchita Pradhan Dey, had withdrawn.
Mamata faction went in support of Congress party nominee Milan Pradhan.
Rejinagar too will have a contestant for BJP in the fray.
Contestant for BJP in Rejinagar is Shakhara Sarkar.
Elections to Rejinagar and Nandigram will be held on October 6.
Voting will be done on October 9.
