There are ongoing large-scale rescue efforts following floods and landslides which have hit several parts of Nepal.

In the midst of the situation, Priya Adhikari has become a living example of courage and skills.

Nepal’s first female helicopter captain has already taken part in close to 100 rescue operations in six days’ time.

She has been working in very risky environments along the Nepal-Tibet border region, particularly in Timure of Rasuwa district.

Due to the presence of heavy mud and rough terrains, landing helicopters becomes a very difficult task. But, Priya and other pilots keep on rescuing people despite the difficult situations.

Priya has also taken part in high-altitude rescue operations throughout the Himalayan mountains, including Mount Everest.

After undergoing helicopter training in Philippines, Priya started her career as a pilot in 2017. She eventually specialized in high-altitude rescue operations.
