Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 Reviewed Virtually; Odisha Charts Roadmap Till 2028

A high-level review programme on Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 was conducted virtually. During this programme, a comprehensive roadmap for the state was presented. The programme was attended by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, who joined virtually from Lok Seva Bhawan. The programme was also attended by Hon’ble Union Minister for Jal Shakti Shri C.R. Patil and Hon’ble Minister of State Shri V. Somanna from New Delhi. During the programme, it was informed that a clear and structured roadmap has been prepared by the state government under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. Emphasis has been laid on public participation, financial sustainability, and efficient upkeep of the schemes through a well-defined Operation and Maintenance Policy.

Citizen-centric service delivery has also been enhanced through initiatives like Basudha Helpline, WhatsApp-based services, and digital grievance redressal systems. Substantial accomplishments in the areas covered by the Mission were also highlighted. As per the official figures, 2.21 lakh water conservation and rainwater harvesting structures have been created, and over 43,000 water bodies have been restored. In addition, 42,000 groundwater recharge initiatives have been completed, and over 2 lakh watershed works have been taken up. In order to maintain ecological equilibrium, the Mission has also facilitated the planting of over 20 million trees.
