The Rajya Sabha has officially approved the merger of seven rebel MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party, including Raghav Chadha, into the Bharatiya Janata Party. Consequently, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat issued a formal notification, marking a significant political shift.

Soon after, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju shared the government’s first response on X. He confirmed that Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan had accepted the merger. As a result, Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Swati Maliwal, Rajinder Gupta, and Vikramjit Singh Sahney have now joined the BJP parliamentary party.

Moreover, Rijiju praised the MPs for maintaining discipline in Parliament. He stated that they have consistently avoided abusive language and refrained from any unparliamentary conduct. Therefore, he welcomed their decision and highlighted their commitment to constructive politics.

Furthermore, he emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, these leaders will contribute to nation-building through the NDA. In addition, he described the development as a decisive moment in national politics.

Finally, Rijiju concluded with a sharp remark, bidding farewell to what he called the “fragmented INDIA alliance,” thereby signaling a new phase in the political landscape.
