Moscow Sends Cost Proposal as India Moves Toward Fresh Defence Deal

India intends to procure five more sets of S-400s from Russia.
At the same time, Russia has sent a Bill of Quantity proposal to India.
This document encompasses the estimated cost of manufacturing and equipment.
Thus, price negotiations can now start.
India has signed the initial contract for the procurement of five S-400s in 2018.
The agreement was worth $5.43 billion.
The final set will be delivered in November.
India plans to deploy it in the eastern region.
This move will enhance air defense around China.
However, the Finance Ministry has to endorse the proposal first.
Then, the security committee will discuss this issue further.
The S-400 demonstrated advanced capabilities during Operation Sindoor.
In addition, India keeps track of the deployment of J-20 fighters by China.
Yet, the acquisition of Su-57 jets has not been approved.
Also, there is potential for military cooperation between India and Russia.
Namely, it could be related to hypersonic missile technology.
