Tulsi Gabbard is stepping down as the head of US Intelligence.

She has resigned from her job as Director of National Intelligence in the Trump administration.

She was a cabinet member and led the United States intelligence community.

But she decided to leave her post for personal reasons.

Her husband, Abraham Williams, recently found out he has a rare kind of bone cancer.

Because of this, Gabbard chose to step back from public service.

She said her husband has big challenges ahead in the coming months.

So, she wants to stay by his side throughout his treatment.

Gabbard told President Donald Trump about her decision during a meeting in the Oval Office.

She also sent in an official letter saying she was resigning.

Her resignation takes effect on June 30, 2026.

President Trump thanked Gabbard for her service and spoke highly of what she had contributed.

In the meantime, Aaron Lukas will take over as the acting Director of National Intelligence.
