Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again questioned the country’s election system and claimed that fraud and manipulation took place in American elections. He argued that the process has become a global embarrassment. As a result, debate over electoral reforms in the United States has intensified. Earlier, after Joe Biden’s victory, Trump had raised similar concerns. Now, ahead of the midterm elections, he has revived the issue.

Furthermore, Trump has urged Republican leaders to introduce a major reform law called the “Save America Act.” Writing on Truth Social, he warned that if authorities fail to fix the election system, the country’s future could face serious risks. He also outlined three key proposals.

First, he demanded mandatory voter ID for every voter. Second, he insisted that authorities require proof of citizenship before allowing anyone to vote. Third, he proposed limiting mail-in ballots, except in special cases such as illness, disability, military service, or travel.

Earlier, on March 31, Trump signed an executive order directing states to prepare accurate voter lists and send mail-in ballots only to verified voters. He described this move as legal and secure. However, election experts and opposition parties strongly opposed the order. They argued that it violates the Constitution. Consequently, voting rights groups and Democratic leaders challenged it in court. Notably, a federal court had already blocked a similar order last year.

The court clarified that the President cannot directly set election policies. Meanwhile, Trump continues to allege fraud in mail-in voting, although experts remain divided and evidence remains disputed. The proposal is now stuck in the US Congress because the Democratic Party is against it.
