BJP welcomes BJD MLA turned defector Prabhat Ranjan Biswal on Saturday.
The former BJD MLA accompanied by his supporters arrived at the BJP state office.
It is here that he was formally inducted into the BJP ranks by wearing the BJP scarf.
It should be mentioned here that prior to joining BJP, Biswal had been sacked from the BJD for engaging in anti-party activities.
During the Rajya Sabha elections, Biswal opposed the BJD leadership.
In the meantime, his MLA son Souvik Biswal voted for BJP candidate Dillip Ray.
Prabhat Biswal is now recognized as a BJP leader.
However, it is widely believed that the development has weakened the leadership of the BJD in Cuttack.
In fact, earlier, BJD leaders like Bhartruhari Mahtab and Debashish Samantaray had also defected to the BJP.
Hence, the BJD is trying to find new leaders to take up the void in its leadership.
