Rising Crowds Prompt Registration And Visitor Limits
Neem Karoli Baba
There is an increase in the number of devotees and tourists in Kainchi Dham.
This has put more burden on the roads of the area.
Parking and traffic congestion have become major issues too.
New methods of managing crowd are being considered by the officials.
Registration of devotees could become mandatory in future.
There may also be a cap on the number of visitors daily.
But, as of now, no such decision has been taken by the authorities.
A meeting was organized by Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat.
Various stakeholders, including officials and hotel owners, participated in the meeting.
The carrying capacity of Kainchi Dham was discussed at the meeting.
Facilities to accommodate visiting devotees were also reviewed by the officials.
Nainital DM and SSP will conduct joint inspection of the temple premises.
Traffic movement and parking will be assessed by them.
They will also look into the road carrying capacity and other facilities.
A report will be prepared by officials after the inspection.
The report will be sent to the commissioner’s office.
Then the registration and number of visitors will be fixed.
These steps have been mainly taken on weekends and national holidays.
The number of visitors had risen greatly during such days.
They want to improve the darshan experience.
They also want to lessen the burden on the local facilities.
As per the recent reports, there was serious traffic jam in Kainchi Dham.
More than 35,000 people used to visit this place each day.
