The chief minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay, has taken a firm stance against corruption.

He has stated that his government will not tolerate any acts of corruption, bribes, and misuse of authority.

While addressing a public gathering at Karur on Wednesday, he directly addressed the citizens.

He requested people to never pay a bribe to anyone.

Moreover, he told people to say, “Our son and brother Vijay is ruling our state.”

He assured people that his government will always support their citizens.

He further advised people to protest against any corrupt practices.

The visit took place as it was the first visit of Vijay to Karur since the fatal stampede at an election rally of 2025.
Over 41 people lost their lives in the tragic event.

On the other hand, Vijay attributed the tragedy to the negligence of the police.

According to him, the police did not notify him owing to the number of people present.

Vijay further stated that TVK would build a monument for the deceased in Karur.

The government also issued appointment letters to 31 families of the affected in different departments.

But DMK leader T.K.S. Elangovan denied Vijay’s allegations.

Elangovan questioned the anti-corruption stand of Vijay.

Elangovan stated that there were allegations against a lawyer and general secretary of Vijay’s party regarding bribery in exchange for joining the party.
