The recently constructed river embankment road has been badly damaged within a span of one month.

Due to incessant rains, cracks have emerged in the road due to damage to its asphalt surface.

The event took place in Ali block of Kendrapara district.

This 3.5 km long road was constructed from Juania to Madhuban.

The expenditure on the road construction project came around ₹5.15 crore.

But the road was soon damaged after its construction.

Some parts of the road had started developing deep cracks.

On the other hand, the asphalt had started peeling off in several places.

Now the commuters have become scared to use the road.

Also, the villagers claimed that engineers hardly conducted inspections at the project site.

Moreover, they accused the contractor of intimidating the locals.

There were charges of collusions between the contractor and the officials of the department.

In this regard, the villagers asked for an investigation by the Vigilance on the project.

Apart from this, they requested the authorities to reconstruct the damaged road.

Also, they asked for strict action against those who were responsible.
