India condemns attacks on commercial ships in Hormuz Strait.
Strait of Hormuz attack
India is really worries about the attacks on cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz, and they’ve said so at the United Nations. Parvathaneni Harish, who representing India at the UN, explained that these incidents put sailors’ lives at risk and make it harder for ships to move freely. He spoke at a special UN meeting right after an Indian ship was attacked near Oman. There, he emphasized that everyone needs to follow international sea laws to keep commercial ships safe.
Harish also pointed out that countries need to work together. He said we need both quick fixes and long-term plans to deal with the increasing problems with security at sea. This statement came out after an Indian ship was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on May 13th. Authorities in Oman managed to rescue all 14 crew members from that ship, which had come from Somalia. But so far, no one knows who did the attack.
India repeated that attacking cargo ships in international waters isn’t okay. They’ve asked for countries worldwide to work more closely to keep the seas safe and stable in that area.
