The new BJP government in West Bengal has issued a fresh directive for schools.

Now, all schools must sing “Vande Mataram” before morning classes begin.

The School Education Department sent notices to school principals across the state.

Accordingly, the order will take effect immediately from Friday.

The notice stated that students should sing “Vande Mataram” during morning prayers every day.

As a result, all students across the state will participate in the patriotic song.

Earlier, the previous government made the state song “Banglar Mati Banglar Jol” compulsory during assemblies.

However, the new directive has created confusion among several school heads.

Many principals said the notice does not mention the state song clearly.

Meanwhile, schools already conduct the national anthem during morning assemblies.

Therefore, administrators fear managing three songs daily will become difficult.

They believe the process may delay the beginning of regular classes.

One school principal said schools cannot remove the national anthem from assemblies.

Furthermore, he confirmed that “Vande Mataram” will now become the first song.

However, adding the state song will require more assembly time.

Consequently, students may need to remain longer before classes start.

School authorities also warned that managing all three songs daily may create practical problems.

Earlier in January, the Union Home Ministry issued a notice regarding “Vande Mataram.”

The ministry encouraged institutions to honor the song’s 150th anniversary through public singing.

Now, the West Bengal government has implemented the directive in state schools.
