Both Leaders Exchange Praise After Recent Diplomatic Tensions
US Italy Relations
It appears that relations between US President Donald Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni are on the rise.
This came after some harsh statements from both leaders.
While describing Meloni, Trump said that she was a good person.
Meloni, for her part, described Trump as someone with whom she has an amicable relationship.
Nevertheless, both Trump and Meloni accepted that there have been some tensions recently.
This came during a bilateral visit by Trump to Turkey, where he met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
Trump admitted that their relationship had become strained recently.
“According to Trump, Italy refused to help the United States yet again.”
Nonetheless, he stated that he thought that she made a mistake.
Trump was referring to Italy’s non-conformity with a military mission by America against Iran.
He explained that America did not pressurize Italy much.
However, there was some tension diplomatically due to Italy’s response.
The statements were made just a few days after both criticized each other publicly.
Meanwhile, Meloni spoke to Italian journalists at the NATO Summit.
She reiterated that she has a friendly relation with Trump.
Moreover, Meloni was sure that both leaders would continue working together constructively despite differences in policies.
