An LPG tanker flagged in Liberia was attacked by drones off Hormuz.
The attack took place when the tanker was sailing eastwards.
The tanker was named M.T. Al Maryah.
There was no significant damage done to the tanker due to the attack.
The 19 crewmembers onboard the tanker were all safe.
The crew consisted of nine Indians.
The engine of the tanker kept running after the attack.
The power supply system of the ship was not affected.
The tanker finally arrived at Khor Fakkan port of UAE.
Currently, the tanker is anchored there safely.
The attack occurred at a time of increased tension in the shipping sector around Hormuz.
There have been quite a few incidents involving commercial vessels in recent times.
Indian government officials are watching the situation very carefully.
Safety of Indian mariners is of great importance.
Four incidents were reported where Indian ships were involved.
Besides, there were 58 incidents where foreign ships with Indian crew were involved.
The above mentioned incidents have resulted in 10 deaths of Indian sailors.
The tanker attack did not result in any casualties.
