Far-Right Party Secures 43.8% Votes and 39 Assembly Seats

AfD in Germany has achieved a great success in Saxony-Anhalt.
It received 43.8 percent of the total votes.
In addition to that, AfD bagged 39 seats in the parliament.
But in order to have a majority, it requires 42 seats.
Thus, AfD is three seats away from taking power.
Party’s leader Ulrich Siegmund described the result as historical.
Voters provided AfD a mandate, he said.
However, there are other political parties that do not want to work with AfD.
Leaders of CDU refused to collaborate with AfD.
In addition to that, CDU got only 17.2 percent of votes.0
The party managed to win 15 assembly seats.
The Social Democrats got 9.3% of the vote share.
The Greens managed to get 8.9%, and the Left got 8.6%.
The BSW got 5.3% and 5 seats.
The turnout was an impressive 77.8%.
On the other hand, AfD is an opponent of the present immigration policy.
The party is also an advocate for removing sanctions on Russia.
Moreover, the party rejects any support for Ukraine.
The state branch of Germany’s domestic intelligence agency considers the party to be extremist.
But the AfD considers the charges politically motivated.
