Mahananda Express derailed near Ara railway station early Sunday.
The incident occurred under Danapur railway division.
Train number 15483 was travelling towards New Delhi.
However, a wrong signal reportedly diverted the train.
The signal directed it towards the Sasaram-Ara Intercity line.
Consequently, the engine and two coaches derailed.
The derailment occurred nearly 200 metres from Ara station.
Fortunately, the train was moving at low speed.
Therefore, no passengers suffered injuries during the incident.
Meanwhile, senior railway officials quickly reached the spot.
Railway security personnel and technical experts also arrived.
Additionally, officials called an accident relief train.
Rescue teams started removing the derailed coaches immediately.
They also began repairing the damaged railway tracks.
However, the incident disrupted the Delhi-Howrah main route.
Several trains remained halted at nearby stations.
Meanwhile, authorities diverted and rescheduled some trains.
Railway officials are investigating the signal failure.
They will determine whether technical or human error caused it.
Furthermore, officials arranged alternative travel for passengers.
Train services will resume fully after track repairs.
