₹5 Lakh Fine for Defending Accused
Ayodhya donation case
Strict guidelines have been laid down by the Faizabad Bar Association to its members.
There shall be a penalty of ₹5 lakh for those lawyers representing the accused in the Ayodhya Ram Temple donations case.
The Bar Association took this decision at its General Council meeting held on Monday.
In its resolution, the Bar Association decided not to represent any accused in the misappropriation of donations to Ram Temple.
Additionally, in case any lawyer defies the resolution, there shall be a penalty of ₹5 lakh.
At the meeting, lawyers have demanded action against the ex-Chief of the Trust, Champat Rai.
The other two persons named by the lawyers were members of the Trust, Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao.
Instead, they issued warnings of a protest in the city.
Before that, Champat Rai was the General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust.
However, recently, he quit from his position along with another Trustee Anil Mishra.
On the other hand, the Bar Association compared its latest decision with its 2005 resolution.
It had refused to defend the accused in the Ram Temple terror attack case.
Bar Association Secretary Shailendra Jaiswal has informed that this alleged stealing of donation has hurt the sentiments of people.
Moreover, he mentioned that Faizabad lawyers have unanimously decided to stop defending the arrested accused.
On the other hand, the video of warning of Bar Association President Kalika Prasad Mishra has become viral on social media platforms.
In an interview with ANI, Mishra asked how the major incidence could happen without the knowledge of the top-level Trust officials.
Finally, he informed about the plan to file a case under Section 156(3).
