ED Challenges Trial Court Order Rejecting Cognizance of Chargesheet; Sonia and Rahul Gandhi Named in Proceedings
Money laundering case India
The Delhi High Court will hear the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) petition today in the National Herald money laundering case. The agency has actively challenged the trial court’s decision, which refused to take cognizance of the chargesheet filed by it.
The matter has been placed before a bench headed by Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma for detailed hearing. Earlier, on December 22, the High Court issued notices to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and other accused persons, thereby bringing them formally into the proceedings.
Additionally, the court had issued notices on the ED’s plea seeking a stay on the trial court’s order dated December 16, 2025. By this way, the agency has pushed for judicial review of the lower court’s ruling.
As a result, the hearing is expected to focus on the validity of the trial court’s order and the maintainability of the ED’s chargesheet in the case today.
