Odisha cabinet approves 11 key proposals to boost irrigation, water supply, and infrastructure

CM Mohan Charan Majhi leads key decisions to strengthen rural development and public welfare ahead of vision 2036

Odisha Cabinet Decisions 2026

Hon’ble Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired the Cabinet meeting at the conference hall of Lok Seva Bhavan and, after detailed discussions, approved 11 proposals from five departments.

Firstly, the government will implement the Parbati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation Project to provide irrigation facilities to thousands of hectares of land across Jajpur, Sonepur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sambalpur districts. As a result, this initiative will encourage farmers to shift from traditional farming methods to more profitable cash crops.

Moreover, the Cabinet approved the Rural Drinking Water Supply Management and Maintenance (O&M) Policy 2026. Consequently, the government will ensure continuous and reliable drinking water services in rural areas, significantly improving living standards.

In addition, the state government will establish Atal Bus Stands across Odisha at district headquarters, sub-divisional headquarters, block headquarters, tourist destinations, and other key locations, including urban local bodies (ULBs). This move will further strengthen the state’s transportation infrastructure.

Overall, these Cabinet decisions will strengthen public welfare initiatives and accelerate efforts to build a developed Odisha by 2036. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister K. V. Singh Deo, along with all ministers and senior officials, attended the meeting.
