Ambikapur Gets Direct Flights to Delhi; Kolkata Service Starts from April 2

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday launched direct flight services from Maa Mahamaya Airport to New Delhi and Kolkata. The ceremony was conducted in a virtual manner from Raipur, whereas Surguja MP Chintamani launched the flight from Darima Airport. The direct flights from Maa Mahamaya Airport will be operated twice a week. The flight will stop at Bilaspur Airport on its way to Delhi and Kolkata. The cost of the Delhi flight is around Rs. 6,500. The Kolkata flight, which will commence from April 2, will be operated on Thursdays and Saturdays at Rs. 6,000. Darima Airport was developed in 1950. The airport was upgraded in 2021 with facilities for 72-seater planes. The direct flight services will be beneficial for people in Ambikapur and the Surguja region. The Chief Minister said that direct flights will also be launched to Ayodhya and Varanasi. The Chief Minister also said that airports in Jagdalpur, Ambikapur, and Raigarh will be developed.
